Presentations and Professional Developments Given
Family Literacy NightAudience: Adult Community Members (Families)
Date: 2009 Setting: Library Purpose: to raise literacy awareness within the school community. Families also participated in a short activity and enjoyed dinner. Sponsored in conjunction with the 21st Century Community Learning Center.
Audience: Students (6th grade)
Date: 2009 Setting: Library Class Purpose: To introduce students to graphic novels, particularly the structure, format and characteristics. Students also listened to booktalks.
Audience: Students (3rd grade)
Date: 2009 Setting: Library Class Purpose: To introduce database searching to guide students through gathering information for a project on marine animals.
Audience: Students (K-3)
Date: 2008, 2009 Setting: Library Card Purpose: To introduce or reacquaint students with the school library.
Audience: Elementary School Teachers and Administrators
Date: 2009 Setting: Multipurpose Rooms Purpose: To introduce units of study, based on the work of Lucy Calkins. The literacy coach and I attended a Lucy Calkins session and created this presentation to turnkey the information.
